KS Ravikumar's yet-to-be-released Juggubhai on the Internet

Kodambakkam and Tamil Nadu were rocked by the uploading of KS Ravikumar's yet-to-be-released Juggubhai on the Internet, a fortnight before its scheduled release date. The film stars Sarathkumar, who is the current president of the Nadigar Sangam. He lost no time in contacting the chief minister and the culprits were tracked and arrested within hours. This was the first time that almost an entire film was pirated before its release. The film's director, KS Ravikumar (Dasavatharam and Aadhavan), said the perpetrators should have rather gunned them down in the street instead of stealing what they had worked so hard for. Juggubhai has been more than a year in production and boasts a huge budget. The quick arrest has been lauded by the film industry but many were perturbed by how the copy had reached the hands of the pirates. Sarathkumar has also called for tighter measures outside India to protect copyright and curb piracy.

In an impressive move, Ajithkumar has asked producers and the media not to use the title Ultimate Star when referring to him. The use of titles before an actor's name began in the days of MGR and Sivaji Ganesan, but these days even actors who are only two or three films old are sporting titles.

Surya was the first to ask producers not to use any title before his name. Last month Simbu announced he was dropping the title Little Superstar before his name. It is a brave and mature move by Ajithkumar and it is hoped more actors will follow suit. The title Superstar, given to Rajnikanth, drew a proliferation of similar titles from Supreme Star to Little Superstar to Ultimate Star and it reached a stage where titles were being given to almost every actor, regardless of their status or talent.

Goutham Vasudeva Men- on's Vinaithaandi Varuvaaya has set a record long before the it's release. The film's soundtrack has become a huge hit on amazon.com and has become one of the top pre-order music CDs. This is the first Tamil film to feature the music of AR Rahman after he won the Oscar Award. The film stars Simbhu and Trisha in the lead roles.

Lingusamy's Paiyya, which stars Karthi and Tamannah, is to be remade in Telugu and Hindi shortly after its release in Tamil. The film's soundtrack, which has music by Yuvanshanker Raja, is one of the current top audio sellers with sales expected to peak after the film's release next month. There has been great excitement from the film industry about Paiyya as Karthik as now become hot property on the eve of the release of Aayirathil Oruvan.
