Actor Vijay takes on baddies at Golconda

The shooting of Velayudham is proceeding at a brisk pace in Hyderabad, with some breathtaking action scenes and risky stunts being shot by director Raja.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay, who always insists on doing all his fights without a body double, was spotted at a huge, specially-erected set at Hyderabad’s Golconda Fort, the famous shooting spot for Kollywood and Tollywood films.

The Sura star was seen battling a dozen goons, with fight master Selvam as the main baddie. It may be recalled that Selvam was a part of the major Matrix-type action in the Vikram starrer Anniyan, which won rave reviews. Aascar Ravichandran, who also produced Anniyan, had roped in Selvam for the thrilling action scenes in Velayudham.

First screen kiss Neil’s with Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone has kissed Saif Ali Khan on screen, but her new co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh was a virgin kisser on camera.

The conservative actor had no choice but to succumb to a liplock for Yashraj Films’ “Lafange Parindey”.

Neil has pulled out the plug on his no-kissing clause as he was virtually forced to do a long, lingering kissing scene with Deepika.

Director Pradeep Sarkar and Deepika had to use every possible power of persuasion before Neil abandoned his chastity vow.

“At first Neil was totally against the kiss with Deepika. He has refused to kiss in all his films,” said a source close to the project.

“In fact his first director, Sriram Raghavan, threw a fit when Neil refused to kiss Rimi Sen. In his second film, ‘Tera Kya Hoga Johnny’, director Sudhir Mishra insisted Neil kiss Shahana Goswami, but the actor refused. Even in ‘Jail’ where there was a love-making scene with Mugdha Godse, Neil refused to kiss,” the source added.

Conservative to the core, Neil plunged into his first kiss only after the director assured him that the romantic relationship needed a culmination.

“Pradeep persuaded Neil and he finally saw his director’s point of view. But the actor was nervous. Deepika had kissed before on screen. Not Neil,” the source said.

“He first suggested a peck. But was finally persuaded to do a long, torrid smooch comparable in intensity and duration with Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor’s kiss in ‘Raja Hindustani’,” the source added.

When contacted, Neil said: “I can’t talk about this. But, yes, we’ve gone completely by the requirements of the script. And ‘Lafange Parinde’ is my first love story.”

Gautham Menon’s Nadunisi Naaigal audio launch not possible?

It is well known that veteran director Gautham Menon is busy shooting for his next thriller upcoming film ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’.

The interesting news about this film is that there will be no audio launch at all for this movie.

Guess why? As there are no songs in this film which is said to be a terrific thriller set in the backdrop of Chennai and even no background score added to the film, there will be no audio launch for this film.

The director says “Thriller movies normally tend to scare the audience with music.

I want to try something different in ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’ and hence may not use any background score throughout the film. But I have not decided on it yet.”

Gautham Menon on saying about the latest thriller “Nadunisi Naaigal is about a different kind of psychopath whose activities begin only during the night.”

It was just like old times when actress Ramya met Amitabh Bachchan recently in Ooty.

The actress, who shared screen space with AB in her super hit film Amruthadhare says, "I had gone to meet Sumalatha aunty who was shooting for the Malayalam film Kandahar with him.

I knew he was on the sets but was a bit shy to meet him as I didn't know if he would remember me.

I mean it's been a while since we had done that film and he keeps meeting so many people every day! When the director introduced me to him, I was shocked to find that he recognised me. Seeing and talking to him made my day."

The actor even introduced her to Mohanlal, she adds. "While shooting for Amruthadhare, he used to read my hands and predict my future.

On this occasion too, he did the same and jokingly told Mohanlal that this was one way of holding the hand of a beautiful girl! He is a very humble person."

Actress Ragini Dwivedi who is in two of Amitabh Bachchan's four scenes in Kandahar seconds Ramya.

"When I saw him for the first time, I was a bit scared and hesitant to talk to him. But I soon realised that he was such a down to earth person.

We shot for two days and in one of the scenes I even got to hug him! We discussed my Kannada films and he was pleased to know that I had done over five films in just over a year and that I was venturing into Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu," she says. Read more...

The director Badri Venkatesh’s long expected release flick ‘Baana Kaathadi’ is all finalized to set for release on August 6th.

The popular actor Murali’s son Atharva is playing the lead role in the movie and Samantha is pairing opposite him.

Simbu not perform at ‘Endhiran’ audio launch why?

As there is less than one day left for the release of much waited audio of Shankar directed Rajinikanth’s latest film ‘Endhiran’  which is to be held tomorrow in Malaysia.

It has come to known that all the people linked with the film are reaching Malaysia batch wise.

Now the latest news is that Simbu and his friend VTV Ganesh are likely to fly Malaysia today.

But some what quite disappointing news is that Simbu who is said to dance for a song in ‘Endhiran’ on the audio launch stage is not going to perform it now as he had no time to rehearse for the song.

Naan Mahaan Alla movie on screens August 20th!

Naan Mahaan Alla, the Karthi starrer, is all set to be released on August 20th. The film is distributed by Cloud Nine Movies and produced by Gnanavel Raja who earlier had produced Surya’s Sillunu Oru Kadhal and the award-winning Paruthiveeran by Ameer Sultan, which incidentally also starred Karthi in the lead role.

Director Sussendran after the success of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, has gone to make Naan Mahaan Alla, the film would deal about problems in city life, he says that it will be another feather on Karthi’s cap.

Kajal Agarwal plays the female lead in this film. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music for Naan Mahan Alla.

While Karthi’s character is a middle class bank employee, Aggarwal would play an employee in a mobile phone company

Will you continue to act in kissing scenes?

Trisha is for the first time pairing with Kamal Haasan in the film Manmadha Ambu. Udhayanidhi Stalin is producing the film which is being directed K S Ravikumar. The shooting of the film took place in Italy, France and Spain for more than 50 days. Trisha who had completed the shooting and returned to Chennai gave an interview to the media.

How was the experience acting with Kamal Haasan for the first time in the film Manmadha Ambu?

Kamal sir is like a university. I have learnt a lot of things from him. I have been to foreign locales for many films. But Manmadha Ambu was a sweet experience.

It is seems you got lost in the ship?

It is not some controversial thing. It happened just like that. Since there was huge crowd, there was commotion.

How is your first Hindi film Khatta Meeta doing?

This film is doing well at the box office in all the cities including Chennai. I am donning the role of a Corporation Commissioner in that film. There is a good reception among the audience.

In Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya you acted in a kissing scene with Simbhu. Will you continue to act in kissing scenes?

That scene in Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya was a natural one. It was just merely lip touching lip. Gowtham Menon has shot it in a decent way. I will continue to act in kissing scene.

There was a controversy about Asin because she had been to Sri Lanka for a Hindi film shooting. You have also started acting in Hindi films. Will you to Sri Lanka for shooting?

I am a Tamil girl born and brought up in Tamil Nadu. If the Nadigar Sangam says that we shouldn’t go to Sri Lanka, I will not go there whether it is Hindi or any other language films. Such a situation has not risen for me. We will see when it comes.

For the last seven years you are a successful heroine. Have you not thought about marriage? When are you going to get married? Whether that will be love marriage?

I have not thought marriage so far. Now I don’t have the mind of getting married. But I firm in one thing. If at all I am getting married, that will be love marriage only. Only after moving with him and understand him, than only will I get married. Read more...

Ajith and Vishnuvardhan ready for Billa 2 Shoot!

Billa(2007) starring Ajith kumar was made based on the 1980 Super Star starring film of the same name by Vishnuvardhan, and the film was eventually one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year showing to world Director Vishnuvardhan’s association with Ajith could be a successful one.

As Billa proved to be a landmark movie in Tamil cinema for its stylish looks and action sequences. After Billa Ajith later went on to act in Aegan and Asal while Vishnuvardhan directed Sarvam.

Now the latest news on the actor-director duo is out. Vishnuvardhan is all set to partner again with Ajith for the sequel on Billa.

Sources confirm that Vishnu is ready with the script and is waiting for confirmation of dates from Ajith.

It is confirmed that the shooting of Billa 2 will commence from early 2011. Whether Ajith will start Billa 2 after his ‘mangatha’ with Venkat Prabhu is still not known.

And on the producers if one should make a guess it would be none other than Sivaji Productions as Ajith Kumar had previously promised them that he’ll work for another project with the producers.

However Billa 2 sounded to our ears in 2008 when soundarya Rajinikanth had said she would start working on the film after June 2009, by which time Ajith will be free from Aegan and she will be free from Sultan: the warrior..But as Soundarya is still not in a position to release her Sultan the Warrior, Billa 2 remains a dream project for her still now? Suriya’s Rattha Charithram Movie for Diwali??

Suriya’s ticket to Bollywood may have its reach few months later from the time it was expected.

Ram Gopal Varma during his media interaction in Chennai assured that the film will hit screens along with ‘Raktha Charithra – 2’ (Hindi and Telugu) by August.

Unfortunately, the release date of ‘RC-1’ has been postponed to September 17. Just as the producers had planned to release the second part at least after 3-4 weeks of time, it may gradually delay the release of Tamil version, which has Suriya in lead role.

The reason why the makers wanted to avoid first part in Tamil was due to the star-casts so uncommon and unfamiliar to Tamil film buffs in Chennai.

Now, it’s slightly implying that the Tamil version’s release may extend up to last week of October or precisely for Diwali, which means November 5.

Narasimha avatar Naran Movie to begin in August!

Film-maker Aathi of Silandi fame is back with an action thriller Naran. Choreographer Agnishwaran and actress Poorna play the lead roles.

In this film, Poorna plays the role of a bubbly girl who is an ardent fan of Jyotika. Monica is the second heroine.

“Unlike regular thrillers, Naran is set in a completely different backdrop and the time factor plays a crucial role in the film,” Aathi said to a leading English daily.

“Naran refers to a man. According to Hindu mythology, Narasimha avatar is often called Naran. Though there is no devotional or horror angle, the film is about how a man contacts supernatural powers,” he added.

Kanja Karuppu provides the comedy element while Shaman Mithru (former associate of Ravi K. Chandran and K.V. Anand) is the cameraman.

The film is produced by Dinesh Karthi and music is composed by Dhina. Satish Kurasova is the editor. Shooting will begin in the third week of August. Read more...

Ileana or Trisha in 3 Idiots Tamil remakes?

Gemini Film Circuit (GFC), which bagged the Tamil-Telugu remake rights of the biggest Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots, confirmed that this project will take place after numero uno director Shankar releases his magnum opus Endhiran starring Rajinikanth.

Recently Shankar’s publicist tweeted that Vijay, Simbu and Madhavan, along with Sathyaraj (in the role made memorable by Boman Irani), will feature in the Tamil version, while the only change in the Telugu version will be Mahesh Babu replacing Vijay.

Then Madhavan tweeted, “So sorry folks! I’m unable to do 3 Idiots in Tamil and Telugu. Have other plans. I am sure they will find worthier replacements.”

Gautham Menon Hindi ‘VTV’ remake start today!

Earlier it was said that the ace director Gautham Menon’s biggest Tamil hit ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’ is to be remade in Hindi soon and Ambika Hinduja’s Serendipity Films has acquired the releasing rights of the film and Gautham Menon will direct and produce the film under RS Infotainment banner with Photon Kathaas and Mumbai’s Purple Arts in Hindi.

The latest news is that the shooting of this romantic remake in Hindi has started today.

It was also reported that Trisha will play the lead role in Hindi version also. Prateik Babbar is going to play Simbu’s role.

A R Rahman, who did the original would be composing the tunes for Hindi version also while Antony handles editing, art by Rajeevan and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.

Two new tunes has been composed for the Hindi version of ‘VTV’ by the music director A R Rahman of which one will be a duet and the other will be a solo song on hero.

The Tamil version ‘VTV’ had seven songs and Hindi has eight tunes.

The actor Shaam who has received the chocolate boy image due to acting in all soft roles right from the films ‘Lesa Lesa’ and ‘12B’, has suddenly don an action police office role in the latest upcoming film ‘Thillalangadi’ which is a remake of Telugu film ‘Kick’ to turn his image into an action hero.

I am co-producing a film titled Agam Puram with Thirumalai. I am donning the role of an action hero. This film will give me another identity.

Many are asking me that why I have not become a leading actor in spite of my talents. I don’t have background.

Director Gautham Menon’s new production venture which is going to be directed by Suseendran of ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ has been titled as ‘Azhagar Saamiyin Kuthirai’.

Sources say that the film has almost all new comers in the lead as well as supporting roles.

However, the director Suseendran has roped in the traditional beauty Saranya Mohan in a key role.

Nadigar Sangam rescues Asin and Vijay

Asin returning to Kollywood has been the latest buzz in the media for quite sometime with everyone speculating on what film she will choose and with which actor.

The latest of these buzz is that Asin Thottumkal will next be seen in the Tamil remake of ‘Bodyguard’. The Malayalam version ‘Bodyguard’ is directed by Siddique and featured Dhilip-Nayanthara in lead roles.

Producer R.B Choudary of Super Good Films has signed Siddique and Vijay for this remake version.

South Indian Artists Association popularly known as Nadigar Sangam at its 58th annual meeting has come to the rescue of its beleaguered members Asin and Vijay.

Asin defying a ban had visited the war-ravaged Sri Lanka, for the shooting of Salman Khans Ready, and some members of the Nadigar Sangam wanted to issue a red card against her.

Sarath Kumar, the Nadigar Sangam chief has now made it clear that a joint committee would decide on granting permission to film stars to visit the island nation, and they would abide by that decision.

We all need to be on the same page, and as far as Karunas proposed personal visit to Sri Lanka is concerned, it is his choice.

Meanwhile on the feud between Vijay and the trade notably the theatres association, Sarath Kumar said, actors cannot be held responsible if a film flops, and they should not be asked to compensate.

Kollywood’s production house AGS Entertainments, is all set to bring the blockbuster Ayan team of Suriya and KV Anand together in an all new action adventure.

Suriya and KV Anand are a deadly combo who set the screen on fire with their blockbuster Ayan will come together again for an untitled movie for AGS Entertainments.

The rest of the cast, crew and technicians are being finalized as the film would go to floors on February 2011.

Asin in real headache – NRI’s to boycott

Kaaval Kaadhal is a forthcoming Tamil romantic comedy film written and directed by Siddique. Starring Vijay and Asin Thottumkal in lead roles, the film is the remake of the director's previous Malayalam film Bodyguard.

The film began its principle shoot in April 2010

With the announcement of the remake, Siddique had finalized Vijay to play the lead role, reminiscent to their previous venture Friends (2001), which was also a remake of Siddique's own Malayalam film.

Asin Thottumkal was signed up to pair with Vijay for the third time after their previous pairings in Sivakasi (2005) and Pokkiri (2007), also giving Thottumkal a comeback in Tamil cinema after her last appearance in Dasavathaaram (2008). Vadivelu, Rajkiran, and Roja Selvamani were also signed up for supporting characters. The film's principal shoot began in April at Kumbakonam.[6]

An incident occurred on sets in April, where Asin, her father, and her make up assistants had fainted in their caravan after being exposed to a gas leak. They were treated in hospital the same day and were eventually discharged.

The second shoot schedule occurred in Vellore. Vijay and Asin, along with director Siddique and rest of crew had taken part in the shooting at the Vellore Institute of Technology.

A song was shot at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the second time, Vijay went to Malaysia after Kuruvi.

The Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA) said Asin films would be boycotted by their members because of her visit to Sri Lanka, despite a ban by the Tamil film industry.

When Asin was in Srilank for IFFA she visited an eye camp in Jaffna, drawing the ire.

Santhanu’s ‘Aayiram Vilakku’ audio on August 9th!

Aayiram Vilakku (English: Thousand Lights) is a forthcoming Indian Tamil action film directed by S. P. Hosimin, in his second venture, starring Sathyaraj and Shanthnoo in the lead roles, whilst, Sana Khan plays a pivotal role.

The film, produced by HMI Pictures and scored by Srikanth Deva, is currently in its filming stage and is expected to release in 2010.

Musical Director Bhagyaraj’s son Santhanu’s, latest forthcoming flick ‘Aayiram Vilakku’ is going to hit the music stands on August 9th. The film is being directed by SP Hosimin of ‘February 14′ fame.

Srikanth Deva is composing the music for the lyrics penned by Vairamuthu. Along with Santhanu, the veteran actor Sathyaraj is playing the main role in the film.

Sana Khan is playing the female lead opposite Santhanu. The film storyline is said to be set in Madurai backdrop. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.

Suseendran speaks on Karthi’s ‘NMA’ storyline!

After the success of ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’, director Suseendran is eagerly waiting for the release of his latest forthcoming flick ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ that has Karthi and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles.

The director on speaking about the film story says “NMA is a slice of our life in a big city. Karthi plays a happy-go-lucky, middle-class guy, whose life takes a dramatic turn after a particular incident in his life.

I chose Karthi because he has a very innocent face and one can easily relate to him.

This is a character Karthi has not attempted before and he’s done a fabulous job of it.

Jayaprakash of Pasanga fame plays his father and the scenes with Karthi and Jayaprakash are a treat. It’s a stylish yet realistic film.”

He further adds “Moreover, since 80% of the film was shot live, I had to be very careful with the crowd.

NMA demanded special attention as the film moves in a rapid pace. That’s the reason that I don’t want to classify it into a particular genre.

It has every emotion a human being experiences in real life.”

He revealed “It’s the story of a dwarf and a horse. Appukutty of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame plays the hero and Saranya Mohan plays the heroine.”

South Indian actor Jeeva’s ‘Ko’ reminds 2008 Mumbai attack!

Jeeva, Karthika, Ajmal and Piaa in the lead, K V Anand’s forthcoming latest film ‘Ko’ is progressing its shooting at brisk pace in Bangalore.

The latest news is that the sequences involving the terrific 2008 Mumbai attack were shot in Bangalore recently.

Sources say that the scene which was shot involved commandos fighting with ultras to free places and people who were in their control.

They further adds “It was shot on a huge budget and will be one of the highlights of the film.”

Sources further say “The film is in its last stages of shoot. Like the earlier ventures of Anand (‘Kana Kanden’ and ‘Ayan’), ‘Ko’ too will be a racy entertainer with all necessary commercial elements.”

Jeeva plays a photo journalist, who does an investigative story that disappoints the political mafia that rules the state.

Actor Dhanush seems to be on his toes these days. The new father is now wrapping up Uthamaputhiran and the shooting for this movie is going on at a hectic pace in the suburbs of the city.
Prior to this, he finished the initial stages of his brother Selvaraghavan’s new film.

Anushka dropped project due some unknown reasons

Already it was announced that Ajith’s forthcoming 50th venture which is said to be titled as ‘Mangatha’ has Neeetu Chandra and Lakshmi Rai playing the female leads replacing the tall and beautiful actress Anushka who is thought to be the heroine of Ajith in the film.

Some sources said that initially she accepted to do the role but later she dropped out of the project due to some unknown reasons.

On clearing about this, Anushka says “I was neither sacked from the film nor did I walk out of it.

Director Lingusamy has sacked Silambarasan from his forthcoming venture, actor Silambarasan has come out with his version and clarified his stance on the whole fiasco.

‘Techincally I have not signed any film with Cloud Nine nor have I allotted any dates to them. Dhayanidhi Azhagiri is my close friend and we share a great rapport.

Lingusamy has not been able to narrate the script to me till date nor tell me the exact dates that he wants.

I waited for over 100 days in vain for his complete script and then decided to do a quickie Vaanam.

I had informed Durai about it, before he left to South Africa for football finals and he promised me that we will start the shoot from September 1′.

‘ was shell shocked to read reports in the media that Lingusamy has sacked me! How can he expect me to wait for more than 100 days without a proper script or dates of shoot? I had told him that I will be free from September 1, after 15 days shoot of Poda Podi in London which has already been fixed.

But he jumped the gun and announces that I have been replaced by another actor! This is totally unprofessional and not done.’

The news is out that Lingusamy has signed Kajal Agarwal as the heroine of his movie.

It is to note here that Lingusamy has not decided upon the hero for his project yet. Incidentally Kajal Agarwal is awaiting release of her next movie "Naan Mahaan Alla" with Karthi.

Though Kajal Agarwal’s first film is Bharathi Raja’s Bommalattam, her second film Pazhani with Bharath had hit the screens before and she is a known name in the industry now.

Currently she is being paired with Vinay in Charan’s Modhi Vilayadu where her role is touted to be very important. During the shooting of a stunt sequence in the film, a sharp

knife had hit her head which led the actress to be rushed to the hospital where she had to be sutured for her head injury.

Meanwhile it is her birthday tomorrow and there was a party scheduled to celebrate the same today at the A V M studios. Initially the crew of the film was skeptical about her presence at the party.

Paramahamsa Swami Nithyananda has finally opened up and said Tamil actress Ranjitha is a sincere and humble devotee.

In a video clip posted on YouTube, he claims that the people, who created the alleged sex video have ruined her life.

On the YouTube video, Swami Nithyananda says, “When the scandal broke out, I did not feel hurt for myself, but I felt gravely hurt for all the pain and suffering caused to my devotees, especially Ranjitha.

People, who wanted to attack me or take revenge upon me, should have persecuted me directly.

I'm available in public functions and they could have done thousand things to me. But they shouldn’t have ruined the life of my devotee,”

Santhanam fastest rising comedian in Kollywood

Santhanam is the fastest rising comedian in Kollywood. Santhanam is a Tamil comedian and actor in Tamil cinema. He has appeared in a whole range of films mostly as a friendly comedian.

His fame started off in the television sitcom Lollu Sabha. He debuted in Manmadhan in 2004 and later appeared in several comedy and drama films.

His comedy style is very similar to that of veteran comedian Goundamani.

Santhanam began his career in the popular comedy troupe "Nungambakkam Boys Kondaatam" who did comedy shows particularly during Diwali.

The troupe included M. S. Bhaskar who occasionally assisted them with his performances.

He moved to television shows such as Chinna Papa Periya Papa in 1999 and in Kovai Anuradha's Costly Maapillai.

He became well known in a number of small time serials on STAR Vijay such as Sagalai vs.Ragalai and Lollu Sabha; the latter had turned Santhanam into a notable television personality.

He began acting in films, debuting in Manmathan alongside Silambarasan Rajendar and later acted with other stars in Sachein with Joseph Vijay, Sillunu Oru Kadhal with Surya Sivakumar, Something Something Unakkum Enakkum with Jayam Ravi, Rendu with R. Madhavan, Kireedam with Ajith Kumar and Kuselan with Rajinikanth.

He played his only lead role in the 2008 comedy film Arai Enn 305-il Kadavul directed by Chimbudevan.
